Edmonton Location Grand Opening Recap
The new shop, looking fresh!
9:30am The doors open early as people arrive to get their first look at the new building we’ve transformed from an empty shell of a building into what we hope can be a hub for Edmonton skaters and snowboards to hang, talk sh*t and shop a bit. After months of work the doors are open and we’re off.
Our very first customer!
9:50 am : Matt and Rob secretly scramble to figure out how to get the ribbon cutting ceremony to happen with people already in the store. (Rob: We had so many people try to plan the ribbon cutting ceremony, and we kept having to be like SHHHHH nooooooo we got this. Trying to keep it a surprise for Dean was so tough haha.)
9:55 am: With just minutes left until the door was supposed to officially open, we ended up having to get Dean to stand around the side of the building and set it up while he was outside. Fortunately it all worked out and we we’re ready to kick things off officially.

10:00 am: Dean is brought to the front of the building. With friends and family watching, we presented him with the official ribbon cutting shears (see below) and ushered in a new era in Edmonton Skateboarding and Snowboarding (hopefully).
Snip Snip!
10:30 am: The day is in full swing now. With people milling about and checking out the store, we took a minute to stand back and let it sink in. After months of hard work, we realized, this really was just the beginning.
12:00 pm: As noon struck our great friends from Drift Food Truck arrived, and started serving up some absolutely delicious food. Great timing too, since our friends from The Growlery had shown up with their keg, and our (soon to be) next door neighbors Ale Architects with their beer as well. Between scrumptious sandwiches and phenomenal (free) beer, we knew we were in for an amazing day.
12:20 pm: Local news organization @thekeeptimes arrives to check out the new location, interview staff and get some clips on the mini skate park we’d built out back. After asking Rob if he could do a kickflip they went outside to see. He couldn’t do it so Matt had to step in to save the day (don’t forget to chirp Rob about this). Check it out!
2:00 pm: The day is really in full swing now, as a delivery driver shows up to drop off some anonymously ordered Lucky beer for Matt and the crew. It was truly incredible for us to get to see so many of our friends, team riders and members of the skateboarding and snowboarding scenes from Edmonton and it’s surrounding area.

3:00 pm: the skate sesh out back continues to heat up, with some real hammers being thrown down. The store is bumpin, beers are flowing and energy is up!
5:00 pm: Dinner time! Another round of sandwiches for the boys as we keep the party going.
Matt's pants were a huge hit!
8:00 pm: Things are starting to wind down a bit. As only a few of us remain the beers continue to flow.
There's that smile!
9:00 pm: The official grand opening has now come to a close. After a huge day, seeing so many friends, family and skaters come out we’re all exhausted, but not quite done yet. It’s time to break out the bubbly. Dean pops a couple of bottles, as Matt and Rob take some time to thank Dean for everything, and get people pumped up for the party to come.

To everyone who made it out for our grand opening, we can’t possibly thank you enough. We’re so excited to be the newest skateboard shop in Edmonton, and we’re going to keep brining you the exceptional service, selection and good vibes you’ve known for years out in Leduc.
